Who: Any one that loves Subaru’s
What: A get together for a big BBQ and a DRIVE
When: Sunday April 15th 2007 10:00 a.m. SHARP
Where: Pena Adobe / Lagoon Valley park in Vacaville
Why: Have not figured that out yet if any one does let me know
How: It’s a you bring money, food is already there.

Let me splane. This is the fourth time for a BBQ at this place. We are going to change it up a little from the last time we had one. This time we will drive before we BBQ. The first couple of times we had about 20 or so cars show up. What I want to have happen is four or five people buy the food. We are talking simple stuff hotdogs/bratwurst, hamburgers, buns, charcoal, pop and ice that’s it. Also we will need someone to bring the coolers and grilling supplies, I have a set that I will bring, but from experience we need two. For everyone else it will be "like" a two dollar entry fee. That way, if the local people buy the food we can keep it at one person's house to be picked up after the drive. This would also give people peace of mind knowing that there is nothing in their car sliding around. Or if we can swing it have one "NON-SUBARU" car used as a storage car and leave it at the park with every thing in it. Both ways will work.

I will need to know who is planning on showing up so we know how much food to buy. Then I will need four or five local guys to step up an help with buying the food. I will keep a running list of who is doing what. Who ever helps with buying the food will be reimbursed with the "entry fee" money.

Here's how it’s going to work. We will drive and then go to the park and cook the food. We will need everyone that is going on the drive to show up at Lagoon Park at 1000 with a 1030 departure. If you are not there by 1030 we will leave without you! The drive will take right around an hour and 45min. The route has already been set with two groups; an aggressive group and a fast group. The aggressive group will be led by someone that has already driven the route and I will need a volunteer for that. I will lead the second group which will drive at a slower pace then the aggressive group. There will be one stop along the way to let the cars cool a little and for us to get out and stretch. There will be NO planned stop to get gas. So get it before you get to the park.

FYI, I will not be held responsible for any thing that may go wrong on this drive. If you go, you go knowing full well that some thing may go wrong. We will do everything with in our power to make sure some thing does not happen.

Here is the lovely map I made.

Green is the starting point.
Yellow is where we will stop and call this half way.
Red is where the drive will end. Then back to the park, which is right up the road.

I will post this across alot of forums like iwsti.com, i-club.com, clubwrx.net, rs25.com and nasioc.com. Everyone that wanted a Sunday meet is getting one and this is right in the middle of Sac and San Fran areas. Let me know what you think.

Check the link for a map of the palce insert link here you will have to zoom out a little too. I realize that is to the saddle shop but you need to enter the park on the north side near the saddle shop. I could not get the entrance to come up on map quest.

Here a description of the Park that I got from cityofvacaville.com

Lagoon Valley Park
Pena Adobe Road just off of Interstate 80
The 470 acre park includes the historic Pena Adobe home, barbecue areas, horseshoe pit, multi-purpose field, bike trails, a small pond, excellent hiking, Lagoon Valley Lake for fishing and non-motorized boating. The park also features a 30,000 square foot fenced in dog park complete with trees, water and trash receptacles.

Plenty of parking 300 spots, if I counted right.

Ok so I will update the top post but the date is going to be pushed back ONE WEEK to the 15th. This will allow people to go to Easter surivce. I hope every one can still make it. And sorry for the change.

Please confirm that you can make on the new date. I will update the first post when I get the confirmation. Thanks.

OrangeDot3083 03-22-2007 10:38 PM

Huge update maybe just maybe will we get an SVX out there?

The +'s next to the screen names are how many passangers are coming. If you have extra people coming in your car that plan on eating I need to know that. I will have to add that to the first post next time I do this.

OrangeDot3083 03-26-2007 11:40 AM

Update. And I have to add some more to this because it was to short so I am thinking this is good.

OrangeDot3083 03-28-2007 09:48 PM

So yeah there has been an update. And this is getting to be a pretty large get-to-get-her.

EdfromSF 04-01-2007 12:48 AM

I might be able to go depending on my Work Schedule. If i do i would bring my SVX.

Ed

OrangeDot3083 04-03-2007 10:38 AM

Sweet this is the first place where it as been made a sticky!

OrangeDot3083 04-03-2007 10:51 AM

Ok another UPDATE. We have a lot of cars going. I counted once a while ago but now I am a little scared...

OrangeDot3083 04-11-2007 12:09 PM

One of the last update's. Sorry it took me so long for this one. I was on leave in So Cal, was not near a computer.

We have 62 Screen Names and 23 passengers on the list, plus a possible 3 more cars that are not listed at this time.

To all of the players that are bringing food and what not. I will be sending out the PM's after I finish this update.

OrangeDot3083 04-12-2007 11:14 PM

So I was thinking about how much it is going to cost every one and it will be $3 or $4 a person. I will let every one know as soon as I have it figured out. If for some reason I don't have it posted in time or some one missed it. It would just be easier if every person had say $10 in cash on them. So whether it is $3 or $4 you have more then enough to cover it. If any one has any questions reguarding this please ask.

OrangeDot3083 04-15-2007 12:55 AM

Ok I will push the last update through here in a couple of minutes.

I will start out by saying anyone that would like to have my cell phone can PM me for it. I just ask if/when you call start by saying who you are and why you are calling. I don’t want to play 20 questions, get straight to the point. I will check my PM’s before I leave in the morning, be advised I am leaving my place by 0645 hours.

The road conditions are going to be variable. What I mean by that is for the most part they will be dry. You will have some runoff from the hills and with that you must exercise caution.

Some one asked if they miss this one event will there be another. It all depends on what the out come of the day is. Should every thing go off with out a hitch I will do another one before I leave California.

If you have any questions PLEASE CHECK THE FIRST POST BEFORE ASKING. If it is not answered there then ask and I will be more then happy to answer.

OrangeDot3083 04-15-2007 11:16 PM

we didn't have one SVX :(

If you have pictures or video from todays drive and BBq please post them here on this link http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=161109

Here are the "official" numbers. Now I might have missed one or two cars but I doubt it. A grand total of 53 Car's and 72 people, both are records for this drive and BBq.

I will start with saying this. I HAD A BLAST! From my vantage point this went off damn near perfect. We had a little problem with the grilling spot issue thingy but we worked through it. I was given an idea by one of our attendees for the next time and we will never have the problem again! Let me say THANK YOU for being patient for everything with the waiting for the food to the little confusion we had with the parking at the end of the run.

I will be doing ONE more of these. I will need just a little bit of input from every one. I need to know if you want to do a longer drive next time. I simple yes or no will work.

I hope every one had a good time and will come to the next one I plan!

Thank you,
Jon Webber

Not one SVX? What happened? I thought for sure that you would have a couple. :o

EdfromSF 04-16-2007 12:09 AM

I am sorry that i was unable to attend with my SVX. I started my new job last week and i found out that i was going to have to work a Sunday-Thursday schedule. Believe it or not i was really looking forward to going today and was really bummed that i was not able to go. I hope that there will be another one coming up and really hope that i can join in that one. I hope that everyone that went had a great time. Oh and what was the Brake down by Make/Model if anybody knows.

Ed

OrangeDot3083 04-16-2007 12:29 PM
