Lonely in New Mexico
I live in Rio Rancho (near Albuquerque) New Mexico and it makes me sad to see all these other SVXers talking about getting together for the weekend or having nearby meets. I have met online one other SVXer that live on the other side of the mountain, but I sure wish I had an SVX friend to hang out with.
In this poor, dirty, hot state I only see other SVXs occasionally, about every few weeks or more. From what I have seen, there are about two other SVXs in Rio Rancho, a Pearl/black with a spoiler and one without. I'm going to college in soccoro (an hour south of here) and I think there is a silver one that lives there, at least I hope he still does next fall. As you can guess, I really hate this place. I don't know why I posted my complaints, just want some sympathy I guess. --Michael (hoping to find a friend in the Land of Entrapment) |
Yo. What color SVX from the other side of the mountain? That's where I'm from...Sandia Park. There are 3 or 4 on the other side, but you definately don't see many. I'd be happy to hang out on the weekends, but I'm in AZ. There are none here either. I've seen 2 in as many months since I've come down here. It's cool because your car really stands out, but at the same time there are no meets. If I come home to NM for anything any time I'll PM you and we can hang out. SVXstasy goes to school in Cruces or Socorro (I think he's at NM tech). He's got a turbocharged (or soon to be turbo, maybe) 5 speed, and I beleive he's in Albuquerque occasionally. You two could hang out.
As far as NM being poor, dirty, and hot, get out to the mountains and change your outlook. Go for a cruise up to Sandia Peak or in the Jemez or something...should change your outlook. I absolutely love the mountainous regions of NM. Some fun roads out there. I had the opportunity to drive on some AWESOME twisty roads this weekend just East of Mesa. That was the most fun I've had in a while (the new K&Bs really proved their worth. My friend said things like "this thing is just on rails!" and "It sure has no problem picking up speed quick!"). Sorry...I'm still on a high from yesterday's drive!! :D :D :D |
I remember visiting Santa Fe, I really liked it. Of course that was about 13 years ago, and I only stayed a week. :)

I was in Clayton, NM last week (Buisness trip). I might e there again in a couple of weeks. I imagine that's probubly nowhere near you though. We were working in OK and staying in NM. It was confusing. There was also a time zone change when we drove in. It was about 10 minutes to Texas and 15 minutes to OK

waaait a minute...I'm the only Mat in Sandia Park with a black SVX...I think. Where did you meet up with Mat (me???). I'll feel dumb if I've met you and didn't remember it, unless we met while cruisin or something. I've met a few SVXers while cruisin, but none in a 'meet' type setting
