I believe it, That truck looks to be about the same as my 95, original HP for a 1995 GMC 350 was 200 the SVX has 230 out of a much smaller motor ... lol

As it appears to be a simple tow out, why would the HP of the truck matter? If it were a tug-o-war the SVX wouldn't be able to back up repeatedly for a running start. Or, am I missing something here? (Wouldn't be the 1st time) Looks to me like the cost of a tow by a tow rig would be cheaper than a tranny rebuild. I'd steer clear of that car in the used car market. :(

Just saying the car has more HP, so may be able to free a truck that could not free it self, or even (depending on gearing) win a tug of war, I too would not want to repair the tranny after someone stressed it like that, but it is believable that it would work.

The sequel to that:

Same guy, different truck. It seems the SVX is their idea of a tow truck...

Traction wise they have a great system. I have made it up icy driveways the a friend in a JEEP could not get up. also the weight distribution and the heft of the car helps too,

Re: Can this be true

Well it wasn't much of a tug-of-war, since both trucks were in reverse. I imagine they were getting them unstuck from something.

I've used my car as a tow truck a few times and it's done the job quite well. During Snow-X people were always getting stuffed in snow banks and needed to be yanked out. I also towed my friend's Tracker 3 or 4 miles to the shop once.
