Bad News!!!!!!!!!!!
HMMPH!!!!
Well I used some engine degreaser on the old H-6 today to get rid of all the dirt and oil. Well so far so good but I think there is an oil leak under the engine somewhere. When the car heats up well the engine starts to smoke and thats no good! Anyone know what this might be? Is it an oil leak or could it be something else? Thanks ~Dennis |
I had ATF smoke under the hood in the corner by the driver - hopefully you don't have that. The overflow hose was dripping on to the exhaust, but the real problem was where the rest of the ATF was going. :(

Is you PS fluid leaking? That could be another place the oil is comming from. :) Could be the O-Ring. :)
|
If the smoke just started, it could just be the degreaser burning off. Otherwise I'd check the PS lines and the O-ring, theres a return line towards the rear passenger side of the engine that sometimes cracks and drips onto the exhaust.
P.S. Haven't heard back from you about the speakers, are you still interested? |
I DONT KNOW!
The leak started before I did the cleaning, all I know was that there was alot of oil on the passanger side under the sparkplugs so I dont know what this is. And whats the O ring? ~Dennis

The first thing you need to figure out is what's leaking: Motor oil or power steering fluid?
Could be motor oil seeping from the cam cover gasket and trickling down onto the exhaust. (It is, after all, a Subaru.) The "O" ring previously mentioned forms a seal between the power steering fluid reservoir and pump. dcb |

Yeah, it's just too bad the oil didn't blow all the way to the quarter and rocker panels on models from the early 90s, back.

They will be in my locker under Engine Pics. |
I had the same thing and it turned out to be a leak in the valve cover gasket. about 1" hole in the gasket. check it

Pics just added the title is Engine Leak. Dennis

It looks like your valve cover gaskets are leaking, and then the oil goes straight down to your headers/exhaust pipes. It shouldn't be that hard to change them... only problem I see is getting the valve covers out of the engine bay, as space to maneuver is limited. But I don't see this taking you more then 2 hours to do. Good luck. :)
Oh and BTW....love your car, the color is just http://forums.probetalk.com/images/s.../icon_pina.gif |
