Remote Start?

These past few weeks have had days well below 0, and a remote starter would be fantastic on cold days like this. I know several people have done it, so are there any suggestions? I don't need something that has a 150 mile radius, tells me the temperature or whatever; just a button that starts the car from a good distance (<mile). Is it hard or simple to put into our cars?

Does looking at an electrical schematic scare or confuse you?

If not, it's fairly straight forward, even using the dimestore crappy ones. I've installed super cheap ones, and much nicer ones. The difference is how many wires you need to splice into (the more features, the more wires).

That being said, again, the answer to the above question is the pre-requisite.

Also. Be a good boy, and properly splice wires. There are different points of view concerning the 'best' method.

Butt splices are commonly used, but frowned upon by traditionalists who prefer the solder method.

There are right and wrong ways of doing each. NASA supposedly used butt splices for their machinery as they decided the vibrations could cause the stiffened solder points to break wires. A properly soldered wire though is very clean in appearance, and is tried tested and true. Many people don't properly crimp a butt splice, so they become loose.
