Push button start is pretty easy to do on the SVX. There are only 4 wires on the ignition harness and that's all you'd have to interface to. You would just need a couple of high current SPST switches or a DPST switch for the ACC & IGN wires and a push button for the START wire. Of course you'd still need to deal with security, as anyone could turn the switches on and push the button.

Single Pole/Single Throw Double Pole/Single Throw (edit thanks to kuoh ;) They refer to the switch mechanism, wherever you buy the switch should be able to help you identify them if they aren't marked like that on the package. |
It was easy to install...first we bought a doorbell then wired it to the 2 wires the ignition normally shorts to engage the starter. You still need to turn the ignition to "ON".

Well the start stop thing is easy. Problem is you kinda still need the key to unlock the steering wheel. Would have to hack of that portion of the column as well. Not sure why you wanna do it. Push button starts have been around forever! Nothing new or cool to it IMO. Now if you do away with your entire dash and toggle everything. That would be cool :D .

No need, the wheel lock relies on a locking pin from the ignition switch cylinder. Remove the ignition switch assembly and voila, no locking wheel anymore. And as for using a doorbell, it would be much simpler just to get some 30-40 amp switches and a push button from Radio Shack.
FYI: SPST = Single Pole Single Throw, DPST = Double Pole Single Throw KuoH Quote:

ooh, ooh, put in a series of switches, and as you flip them you can do the old batman thing....
atomic batteries at power, turbines to speed..... or put the switches in random places in the car so by the time the thief found them all you'd be coming out to your car to go to work... Skip |
