That's got to be the first time i've heard someone say that insurance was their main concern in regards to an SVX. Apparently yours has treated you well. That's a good thing.

Welcome to the network, check back here often. This is a bunch of very interesting people. You can get some great answers to very complicated issues regarding the car, and life in general. The site is a great resource for a car that has mystified mechanics for years. In other words, any questions, comments, or concerns, just ask.

shop around and get quotes - some companies consider the SVX a "performance vehicle" , some don't.
the WRX is tough on insurance - it doesn't help that everyday on i-club there's at least one post titled "I've wrecked my WRX!!!". usually goes like this - "i just installed my new _______, and was testing it out on the highway at 100mph, when ______."

There is a subaru salvage yard in York, PA that already has upwards of 15 totaled WRX's. I think it has a lot to do with younger people (read: kids) getting them as a gift from their parents, and going out and trying to 'impress' their friends with the performance. I know how I acted when I was in high school, and I know I'm glad I didnt have a WRX. I probably wouldnt be here right now.

exactly. i had a Plymouth Horizon in high school that wouldn't go up hills unless you turned the AC off. i'm so glad i didn't have a fast car until i was a little more mature. i can't figure out how these kids can have a new WRX AND $5000-$6000 worth of mods on them. spoiled or credit card debt?

I'll take spoiled for 500, Alex.

Welcome, Danielle . . . or . . .

. . . why I don't ride 100 horsepower motorcycles.

Seriously, good to have you aboard Danielle. Yes, threads sometimes tend to go off-track pretty quickly on this forum, but really, that's half the fun.

Go to page three of any long thread and you might not be able to tell what (the heck) the original thought was. ;)

My SVX is pretty easy on insurance, and I haven't even checked with the little lizard. :D

Welcome to the forum Danielle. Another fun place to go see other cars and information about them is at: http://www.subarusvx.org/ You can register your car, put pictures of it in a locker like you can do here, and vote for your favorite SVX for the month. Have fun, and be safe. :)

Welcome, I am16 and pay about 1,000 a year for my insurance I dont think this is high for a car like this.

I second spoiled for 500... see we are already getting off topic.:D
Parents spoil their kids way too much, I worked to buy my first car and now the SVX and all my scaled cars($3,500) and fishing stuff($2,500). I know guys who got a $35,000 car and insurance and gas money and these kids have never worked a day in their life, I have worked since I was 12 and what I have is a NX worth $3,200 and a SVX worh $4,000 and I still take care of my insurance.

WElcome to the network. I live in chicago and I pay about 650 for 6 months. I am 24. Hopefully it should go down again soon.

Lwin

if you want, you can register your SVX over at my house... for lower insurance purposes.

LarryIII 11-17-2002 06:04 PM

Lwin,

If you pay $650 for six months, you pay $1300 per year. I pay $2800+ for 2 SVXes +a Legacy Outback. All three cars have the same coverage. I have $500 deductible on the collision coverage.
The insurance co. is Liberty Mutual. I may save about 10% of the premium if I go with the Liberty/Subaru auto insurance.

Seraph 11-17-2002 07:36 PM

But then again I did have an accident two years ago and I have a couple of speeding tickets as well....

I can beat all of you with my 300 dollars a month. But now that its not running and its on storage insurance its down around $65 for 6 months.

SVXRide 11-17-2002 08:37 PM

Better yet, check with the little lizard and have your SVX listed as for the lowest yearly mileage (less than 10k/year) - it also doesn't hurt to have it as your third vehicle and be over the age of 40 (yes, this all equates to $250/year...)
