Cruise still not working.

First, thanks to everyone that posted suggestions on my earlier post.
I checked the vacuum hose, installed a zip-tie and checked fuse.(fuse ok)
Took my car out for a spin and cruise still doesn't work.:(
More info:
Sometimes I have to push the dash switch repetedly to get it to stay on.
After looking at the wiring diagram, I am leaning towards one of the relays or the dash switch. I doubt that it's the module.
Any opinions?
Thanks.

Re: Cruise still not working.

You say you have to push the switch repeatedly but that is to get the light to stay on correct. Once that light is on I would not think that would cause the cruise to not work.
Mine is the same way actually,

Yes, that is correct.
Hopefully this weekend I will have a chance to remove both relays
and test them per the troubleshooting logic tree in the manual that I downloaded from the faq's. At least that will rule them out.

I had to replace one of the relays to get the CC to work. Somewhere on this site is my thread with lots of pics and details.

Good luck.

Mine hasn't worked on the '92 Ebony since I bought it 2 1/2 years ago.
Thanks for the pics, I'll get on it in the spring when it gets warmer out.
Are the relays a dealer only item?

Re: Cruise still not working.

What I meant was once the cc light comes on my cc works perfect.
I do have to press the switch a few times to get the light to stay on, that indicates to me the momentary switch is bad as when I press the button the light comes on, just goes back out when I let up on the button. If that light is on my cc works perfectly.

Thanks for all the input.:)
I'm going to see if I can hunt down some new relays.

Re: Cruise still not working.

i did a search based on the numbers on the relay (during this project) and they came back as obtainable, if memory serves. However, at that time Subaruparts had them in stock as well.

I too had the same intermittent switch problem and it turned out to be the relay, NOT the actual switch. The switch tells the relay to come on and if the relay is latched in, the indicator light on the switch is illuminated. After this fix, the switch is back to its normal self.

HTH.

This may sound strange, but it happened on my 92.

Evidently mice or some other rodent took a liking to some of the wiring insulation under my hood; nothing to serious that a little tape couldn't fix.

But they also chewed a hole in the CC vacuum line. Check the entire length of hose for cracks, splits or holes. A vacuum leak is the same as having the hose disconnected.

Re: Cruise still not working.

where the hose connects has a vac diaphram? maybe that diaphram just went bad?

Relays on order from Subaruparts. They were out of stock but I should see them in about a week. And they are only 20bucks a piece.:)
