Swap help

Hey guys, I just picked up a 92 svx. The car runs rough, and sometimes stalls. The trans doesn't really shift right. I am guessing it runs rough due to a bad cam angle sensor, or crank angel sensor. I am also suspecting the TPS, and the trans fluid being low. Let me know if this makes sense. Also, does anyone know exactly what you need to do a 5 speed swap?

I have an 02 wrx transmission, crossmembers, driveshaft, rear diff, flywheel clutch. Other than the master, slave cylenders, and pedal set, what else is needed. Thanks so much.

Brandon.

Ok, now how do I know if I have awd or not. I havn't got a chance to look at the car. I don't know what trim it is...

If it has a sunroof it is AWD. If there's no sunroof look under the rear end for the rear diff.

its a 92..its awd. fwd was only offered in 94-95

Youlll need the tranny, tranny mount, clutch, shift linkage, flywheel, pedal assembly, master and slave cylenders (If hydrolic) and a starter

The crossmember, shift linkage, and pedal assemblies wll need to be custom fabricated using parts from the donor car, and the svx driveshaft will need to be extended. If this is a job your unsure about doing yourself, shoot Tom'sSVX a pm about a 5 speed kit. It comes with all the parts youd need to make, and he offers rebuilt / extended driveshafts as well:cool:

you guys have been amazingly helpful. What all does the kit come with and how much are we talking? THanks

Brandon.

Here's Tom's profile: http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/member.php?u=2184

Fire him a PM to set up the kit. I think it's $800?

1quikwagon 03-08-2008 09:30 PM

I got him a pm sent. Do you know what he includes?

Crazy_pilot 03-08-2008 09:35 PM

Here's a link to a thread Tom made about the kits: http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...highlight=kits

I'm not sure if it's completely accurate anymore, but it should be pretty close. I'm sure he'll chime in here shortly.

1quikwagon 03-08-2008 09:38 PM

alright cool. So i need to send in my old stuff and he will mod it so it will work or what.

Crazy_pilot 03-08-2008 09:41 PM

You buy the kit, install it with the 5-speed, and when you're done you send him your old parts so he can use them to make more kits, and he returns you $100. This is what's called a core return, or exchange. You'll see it often if you buy remanufactured parts like brake calipers.

ok cool. I am just making sure the juice is worth the squeeze with this car. It is either the twin turbo'd svx with a ra gear set 5 speed, or a type r swapped del sol with a gt28rs, disco potato....

...you guys are overcomplicating things. Lol, if its a 92...its awd by default:lol:

Oh, your stalling issue is likely the tps (make sure it is not only properly adjusted, but is a good, working unit) the maf, or probably you have a vacuum leak somewhere around the tb (Tb gasket and iac valve gaskets come to mind)
