I-Pass and the windsheild

does anyone else have an I-Pass that will not work through the svx windsheild??

i dont know if the ipass exists out of Illinois.. so if you dont know what im talkin about; its a little box that sends signals to toll-booths to pay as you drive through

i drive through a couple tolls every morning, and i always have to stop and open my sunroof to get the I-Pass to be read -- this really sucks in bad weather, and makes the thing pointless

There are other members who have had the same problem. You are not alone. I think they put something in the grill. Good luck. :)

my EZ-Pass doesnt work either. The svx has some kind of special windshield that the pass wont get scanned thru the glass. They have something you can screw on top of your liscence plate though.

The tint used in the SVX's glass is titanium-based, and blocks all sorts of low-power radio signals - including electronic toll passes and GPS signals.

As others have already said, license plate-mounted passes are usually available.

As for the GPS, I had to put an antenna in the trunk.

You can get a I-Pass that mounts on your front plate in Illinios. I have the internal unit as well and expericence trouble once in a while.

no kidding? I thought I was the only one :p. I chalked it up to spraypainting it black (I hate having a little white box messing up teh car's aesthetics), but I the spraypaint was nonmetallic so it shouldn;t have blocked anything. heh. I keep finding that more and more quirks aren't limited to my car :D.
