JDM style Front bumper cover/spoiler (resurrected)

just fyi, we bought the mold from Steve and will
be starting to make his design in the following weeks.
I plan on stocking 3-5 at a time.

My next plan of attack is to possibly add our front
splitters to the design, make a mold of that and
start offering that design too.

That sounds like an interesting concept. All in one. :) :)

Do you have any pictures, for those of us that have no clue what this looks like?

Dayle,
How about looking into doing the bumper in urethane vs fiberglass?

Re: JDM style Front bumper cover/spoiler (resurrected)

cost to do it out of urethane too costly
These will be made out of the multi-layered
fiberlass with flex to them. So a little more
forgiving then before.
Heres the style for those who have yet to
see one.

Any idea when you'd be doing this with the lip mold?

Wait, so that picture you linked to is how it would look, or there would be an additional spliter on the bottom of that?

I for one say that cover picutred doesn't go low enough for my taste.

It's a low as the OEM, see picture.

However, a splitter or a black DTM style lip under would improve it a lot.

Just not feelin' the center intake's height.

I kinda like the back-angle from the bumper, back and down to the chin spoiler part, and a little bit of a lip spoiler would be good...

The fog light openings aren't so bad.... maybe could provide additional cool air to the engine bay, or the front brakes...

The center intake is just too tall. The OE bumper cover looks more thoroughly developed in that area.

The SVX is very low, and very horizontal on the front. Vertical height messes with the lines too much.

Personally, I would much rather see a composite hood with a good heat extractor slat, or 2.5RS-style hood vents, or something. It doesn't really need a scoop, but if it were to have one, a Legacy-type, (which new Forester XT also wears) or Saab 9^2x integrated scoop would be better than a periscope-like scoop, like many of the Foresters and Imprezas wore.

It seems like a bit of heat extraction would help as much as larger open frontal area. It is hard to ram more cool air into the engine bay, when the air has nowhere to escape from the engine bay, and just raises underhood temperatures, and heat-soaks everything.

how would you suggest helping the air to escape? the hood vents you mentioned??
