What the heck is this!?

...and where can I get one!? Anybody make one that has a MPH/KPH scale on it? That's so cool. Found it on a Japanese blog site.

I think it's a Euro or maybe Aussie speedo.

I've seen that Japanese site. IIRC The Japanese owner put in an aftermarket ECU without the 180km/h (110mph) speed limiter. Then he had to replace the JDM 180km/h speedo with the Euro 260km/h one so the needle didn't run off the end.

The UK speedo has an mph and km/h scale on it, because we are semi-metric here.
(In America you buy a pint of milk, in Europe you buy a litre, in UK you buy a pint but it's labelled 0.568 litres )

Might be a custom someone made to just look like the factory. Some folks have hte back-lit guages, i guess they just did something to make it look factory perhaps?

That reminds me.

If someone were to put the JDM/Euro/Aus gauge cluster into their US car... would the odometer and tripometer still run as km? Or is that conversion done before the gauge cluster?

As you can probably tell, I'm very interested in this. That logo is just so cool. :D

Yes. The JDM speedo is wired exactly the same as the USA one, it takes the signal directly from speed sensor #2 in the front diff. I think if you fit a JDM speedo, it will read in km as designed. But it can be modified to read mph.

It's a slightly different situation with Euro/UK/Aussie cars because they have a different type of speed sensor. The TCU produces a speed signal output which emulates the JDM/USA style Speed Sensor #2. So the same applies. The speedo will read as designed.

...it's probably just a vynal someone stuck on while they had their gauge cluster apart. If not, they probably used a vynal stensil and painted it on.

...It would be cooler if it said alcyone:D

thats really cool - looks like it came from the factory!

+1 for 'Alcyone' :D

That is the first time (I think) that I have seen the SVX on a Speedo. I think is has been added on. :)

I would vote for the Alcyone as well. :D :D

If they did it custom, I'd love to find the specific way. And then I'd do it to my tachometer (I was looking today and there's not enough room on the MPH/KPH speedo to fit it).

That way my gauge cluster would look like the one in Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2, hahaha. :D
