who to vote for

The old Kerry thread is gone and I still don't know who to vote for. Anyone feel like convincing me?

It was Kerried away???

There is only one sensible way to vote

Vote for Me

calmone 09-25-2004 09:33 AM

all right, i'll stick my neck out. to me there race boils down to a choice between one candidate who promses everyone everything (from "free" health care to, at a rally of tribes in new mexico, putting an indian in an office in the white house-REALLY) to one all of whose positions one doesn't agree with but is up front with them for the most part. a no brainer to me.

as for the war in iraq (which seems to be the big issue), we will never know if the war was a good thing, we can can't turn back the clock and see what what would have happened with sadam still in power. i figure the prez acted on what was the best intel at the time and in a way he thought was best for the counrty. that's all i could ask for.

I know I would never vote for someone who can't make up their mind. If someone can't run a good campain, how could they run the country?

And I wouldn't vote for somebody who busses in participants for a rally, screens them and then makes them sign an 'oath of allegiance' so nobody asks any tough questions.

Seems like you have a bit of a Hobson's choice. Your two make Blair look good.

benebob 09-25-2004 01:45 PM

David Cobb all the way. He talks about his agenda, not what's wrong with his opponents.

Aly, since you asked to be convinced, I give you:

http://www.johnkerryisadouchebagbuti...himanyway.com/

It's a real address and the guy very neatly reflects many of my own personal views.

Other than that, I'm not going to try to convince you. The best advice I can give is that you take the time to research things thoroughly. I think it's hard for many people to pick one candidate over the other because neither accurately represents them. I know what that's like. This is the third presidential election I've been eligible to vote in, and the third where I've felt that it's a decision between a lesser of two evils.

Anyway, do your homework. Don't take the decision lightly and don't let somebody else tell you who to vote for. Most importantly use the most independent sources of info possible. Researching any candidate's websites, for example, would not be my first choice. :)

Thanks Pockets, http://www.johnkerryisadouchebagbuti...himanyway.com/ is now one of my favorite amusing URLs, tying with http://www.wemadeoutinatreeandthisol....com/index.php. :)

I'll take 4 more yrs of pollution over the further sellout of our country begun in 92 w/the Clintons. Then again, 4-8 yrs of Kerry would preclude 8 yrs of Hellary beginning in '08. Then again, it'd be great fun watching the Hellary-Giuliani punchfest in '08. hmmm...

hogwash i went to a kerry rally and I never had to sign anything. However that doesn't mean I will vote for him either. He had a great first impression and since EH not so good. seems like i may just vote for him on the simple fact that he is just flat out smarter then bush :( i don't like either choice.

Standing on the fence waving,

Patrick
