sunroof problems, and more

Well, it finally happened. The SVX left me stranded, at the grocery store no less. My starter went out, so I had it towed to the garage. Funny thing is, I scheduled it in that morning, just hadn't made it there yet.

Anyway, the important stuff, my sunroof hasn't been closing properly. It will get stuck right before it closes, leaving the back up. I have to then run it forward and backward a several times to get it to close. So, I told the mechanic to take a look at it, well it turns out that one little part needs to be replaced. Good right, wrong!! They have to replace the entire unit, over $900!!! Needless to say, I think I will go without for a while. However, I am in the process of finding out exactly what piece I need, when I do, I'll post it out here, and hopefully, somebody might have one laying around.

Anyone have a problem like this before?

I have had this problem, and many others have too. Greese on the track that the roof slides on gets stiff, and dried out with dust, and it dosen't slide as well. I cleaned mine up, and used silicone spray on the gasket part of the roof, and sprayed the track as well. It seems to work just fine now. If it starts to have problems again, I just treat it again, and it seems to work fine. I would try that before I spent $900 on a part. Some have adjusted the clutch on the roof as well, and that has seemed to help. Maybe someone can tell you how to do that.:)

Sorry to hear about your starter. Anyway, I have to push the close button once to get the sunroof to the almost closed position and then once more to get it to actually close. So I push it once untill it stops, and once more till it closes all the way. Have you tried this?
