that is a good question thou and I have heard a few answers. My question is what do the cool half windows do for us, beside keep rain out when driving

Fixed upper glass is semi-structural, and improves higher field of view

Lower glass pane is shorter, so takes up less room in door when down. Allows the sill of the door to be lower. Again, improves the field of view.

Finally, drives people crazy trying to figure out what it is.

It also lowers turbulance in the cabin at highway speeds.

assuming your windows are down.
