Snap- no pwr to the wheels :( diff?

So driving my 94 L fwd.
was getting on the fwy this morning had gottin up to about 60mph and heard one loud snap/bang. Then it rev'ed up. Pulled over and the engine was still running but wouldn't move in any gears. ... Maybe the diff snaped? I heard no grinding sound tho .... But the car has a ticking sound from the trans area before it stopped and still does after tho so idk if it has something to do with it.
Any ideas? It may be time for awd 5speed conversion

maybe the flex plate snapped?

^ Sounds like a flex plate to me too.

Replacing the flex plate requires pulling either the trans or the motor (or both). Use a phase 2 flex plate, as they are stronger. (Searching should yield the part number).

K.I.S.S. check both axles first as if one snaps internally or externally car go nowhere.

Good idea, should be easy to check for. Although I have not heard of an SVX axle snapping before, I guess a FWD SVX would be the one to do it. Then, since it's an open diff, the engine would just rev like what he described.

The "ticking sound from the trans area" sounds like broken flex plate, but maybe a snapped axle would make a similar noise?

My mom's old Turbo legacy did it after a friend bought it. His axle was bad for like 10k before it went but its a quick check with someone behind the wheel other looking down at the inner axle.

Yeah i am gonna check the axles first. If i put the front end on jacks and put it in gear will a wheel spin if one axle is broken?
.. I popped open the TC bolt access hole i saw the flex plate spinning.. and a few weeks ago i checked all the TC bolts so i know its not them.
