Need some help!

Ok, so im at a friends house and he gives me an equation to see if I can figure it out, as he is having trouble with it.....

1/x2(squared)+2/x-8=0

I figured it to x=.5 but my math is rusty......

Any help? It's really bothering me! I want to know if I got it right or not.

wait... is it (1/X2)² + (2/X) – 8 = 0 ??

(1/(x^2)) + (2/x) - 8 = 0

Multiply all by (x^2)

1 + 2x - 8(x^2) = 0

Negate both sides

-1 - 2x + 8(x^2) = 0

Reorder

8(x^2) - 2x - 1 = 0

"Undo"

(4x + 1) * (2x - 1) = 0

Two answers:

(4x + 1) = 0 -> x = -1/4
(2x - 1) = 0 -> x = 1/2

Is it sad that I fell into this trap?

You're light years ahead of me and I need to get this out of my head so I can do my first tranny removal.:(
