SVX motion thread

Just thought I'd share some stuff that I've been messing around with lately. Tonight I was bored and was waiting in parking lot so to pass the time my friend and I thought we'd try some motion shots with the stuff we had in our trunks...

They're just some practice shots for the first time so they will get better once I get more bungee cords and rope :)

very cool what kind of camera are you using? what shutter speed did you use?

Tim 06-12-2006 10:20 PM

It was all on my Rebel XT with 17-40 F4L

17mm @F8 shutter speed 6 seconds for most shots

awsome pics, the 1st one turned out great

cool photos -- I can't figure out how you managed to rig the camera -- was someone hanging out of the trunk?

Very nice Pix!!!

Thanks :)

I kinda just rigged it on the fly with random stuff I had in my trunk.
some shots required the tripod to be affixed to the front headrest and sticking out of the window... another shot had the tripod sticking out of the rear window and one was mounted on the front windshield. The rear one did'nt come out too good because there was a lot of free play in the tripod because it was strapped to the towhook and another hook inside the trunk.

We just went to an empty parking lot and pushed the car in neutral at like 5 miles an hour if that. It was really difficult getting the angles I wanted, so next time I try again I'll have more supplies to pull this off better :)

Yea...those are some awesome pics. I actually prefer the last one as a picture, but it's a bit blurry unfortunately. It's cool how the lighting makes it look like the rear fender flare could actually be a crease like on the side of the new BMW 3-series. The 2nd to last one would look cool with large aftermarket wheels and painted brake calipers.

Great job. Look forward to seeing some more.

I could probably do some similar shots for others in our area if they're willing to make the drive up. I'm currently trying to build something to make that last shot stable :)

Update: I'm actually getting this printed in 11x14 and framing it to see how it looks... I'll let you guys know how it looks :)

Hook us up with some higher res pics next time, those are pretty cool.

That's great shots! Those can be in some car catalogue or something. Yeah, please share hi-res photos! I will put it to my desktop wall paper!! Thanx!

A sample of my similar shots from years ago:

I used a standard suction mount and a sony dsc v1 camera.
