Starts hard when cold. Almost like it is out of fuel.

HI, to all you SVX owners out there. I just did a engine swap and the only problem I have it that it has a hard time starting for the very first time of the day. It is almost as if the car was out of gas and is being started from empty. As I pupm the gas as starting there are lots of somewhat backfiring going on. Then it slowly starts to fire off and then the engine is runniig in the high RPM in the choke mode. Then mintues later the choke kicks down. After that it runs great. I live in Boston, MA and it get colder here. I have checked all the hoses and I do have a "CHECK ENGINE" light on. I have not quite worked out getting the codes just yet. hoping that could be the answer. I did look into the codes, but didn't find one that had something to do with the choke or anything thing that worked the fuel. Has any one had this problem? Thanks Bill:confused:

Got to looking into the check engine light. The codes are 12, 33 and 37. Having a hard time find the the start switch. Seeing the starter is working fine. Finding the speed sensor isn't easy either. The o2 sensor was working great before the engine swap. Now just need to check the connector. It there a way to clear the codes without driving the car any where? or is it locked in the memory until to erase it? I just want to see if the codes will come again from a fresh start. Thanks Bill.

In my experience leaving the battery unplugged for a bit will clear the codes.
