I got a free truck!!!

Well its a 1985 F150 shortbed needs work but has potential, been the family for 15 years as a farm truck. I plan on fixing it up- give me some ideas!

Is it the straight six? Thats a nice engine my friends 86 has a lil over 200k and everthing on the truck has either been rebuilt or replaced but the engine. Thing never misses a beat and hes not easy on it either. Sorry i got no ideas but good luck with the truck:)

Yes its got the L6 but with the crappy 1 bbl carb. Been looking for a Clifford or Offy intake and maybe a V8 later. I was thinking of a retro Lightning wheels monochrome paint etc.

I yanked out my strait 6 in my 83 F150 and dropped in a 351Winsor.
It bolted right up to the C6, and Ford had the motor mounts I needed.
Had to change rads, but PICKED up 1 mpg, and had twice the power!

Using that logic I went up to a thirsty 460,:o twice the power again and lost 6.5 mpg!

Wow i have'nt heard anyone mention Clifford Performance since i hung with the XJ Jeep crowd. I'm guessing this is a 2 wheel drive and your shootin for a performance truck?

Was it a pretty easy swap? I got a good junkyard with cheap prices as far as extra parts go and a friend of the family with a bunch of 351's laying around. I got the C6 trans and would rather go with a V8. Thanks for the support

As I remember, rad, hoses, factory mounts were riveted in with LEAD rivets and just melted out with an oxy/acetalyne tourch, bolt in the new mounts, and fab up a new exhaust.
A Winsor 351 fit the C6 bell housing.
I went from 14 mpg highway to 15 mpg highway with the original 3.55 gears and 2wd.
It was cake AND well worth it!:)

Put in a blown Chevy 350 and M22 rock crusher. Talk about sleeper. Being a ford, everyone will know it won't run. Then whoop 'em! :)

Well I got a older carb(50$) cleaned it up(hasnt been washed in 8 years) and waiting on a LMC truck catalog. Friend of my dad has 3 351W It is drivable and has potential. On top of that got a significant raise so I can fund this.
