10th Anniversary Meet - HELP

Hi Gang,

I need help on setting up some things for the 10th Anniversary SVX Meet. This meet has grown so large that one person cannot do it alone. I am looking for people to form working groups and volunteer to do the following:

1) SVXers local to Lafayette, Indiana should map out tours that 20-25 cars can drive. These tours should take no more than 1.5 to 2 hours. They should be scenic and not be boring (curvy roads). Each tour should include a pit/gas stop. Tour “guides” should have cell phones (walkie talkies) for communication. Tour guides should also make & copy maps for everyone in the group. Maps should have phone nos. w/names written on them.

2) We need a few 6-8 posters to put in hotel lobbies. Similar to the ones that we had at the Snowshoe II & Reading II meets.

3) We need people to print up name tags. These could be nothing more than hand printed computer disk labels. I suggest that they have the following info:
a) Club Name (eg: Larry III)
b) SVX year, color & model(eg: ’97, Bordeaux Pearl, LSi)
c) Real first name of everyone in your party (eg: Larry or Rosie)
d) State or Country of residence (eg: Delaware)
e) Sign-up List Number (eg: #1)

4) We need people to give technical demonstrations. You don’t have to get dirty or use tools. Just open the hood and explain. You should bring copies of the detailed procedure to hand out.

5) We need people to coordinate with the Indy track and museum.

6) We need people to set up publicity with TV shows such as Motor Week, Car & Driver, & Speed Vision.

7) We need local Lafayette people to coordinate trips to scenic places and shopping for spouses, etc. that are not really interested in the SVX.

That’s all that I can think of right now. I’m sure there are things that I missed.

Thanks All.

PS: I intend to post the local hotel/motel list sometime this weekend.

Hey Larry - Have you looked at a map of Lafayette yet? Outside of a few cul-de-sacs & highway bends, there ain't a bloody curve to be found. Perhaps if we can rope off a cornfield somewhere....?
Ron.

Larry, I would be willing to do some nice printed name tags as long as I have all the necessary information ahead of time. I might even make them "perfeshnal" looking

I could be persuaded to do the posters too, if you can't find another sucker...errr volunteer.

Hotel?

I know this is a little off Larry's topic, but has there been any discussion about 'taking over' a local hotel/motel for our meet? I think 100 SVXes parked in the same lot would be an impressive sight. :):)

I think it would be great if we all stayed at the same place. Then we can drink all of Aredub's moonshine (you are bringing some aren't you:p) without risking arrest for DWI

We probably have enough time to coordinate such a thing if someone local can check out the best place for us to meet.

Just another log on the fire :):)

Ron,

We can rally round the corn silos.

Stevesby,

Stay tuned this weekend. I will be posting the motel/list. I would like the Raddison to be the main hotel. They are giving us the "special" rate and I plan on having the main dinner there.

Rufus,

Maybe you and John can get together and do a perfezzional job.

We've got a pretty detailed map system here at work i'll look and see what I can find, but like Ron said, it's pretty mcuh corn and soybean country out there. I'll see what I can find and let you all know.

I'm trying to find some roads that curve along the tippecanoe/wabash rivers, there are a couple that could be used I have no idea of their condition, or speed limits. They seem to go along and loop around a bend in the river, then double back again, I'm still workin on it though.

I'm tellin' ya -- just bring plenty of cones -- the SIA parking lot is BIIIGGGGG!!! :D:D:D

"Hello Mr. Paddy Wagon driver -- no, I didn't know it was illegal to Autocross in a parking lot -- no, I'm from Kentucky -- but officer, just because I'm from Kentucky . . . bye guys -- Shari, could you call the auto club and see what the limit is on the Legal defense benefit and if it covers acts of cross-border stupidity?"

Ahhhh, can't wait. :D

Larry,

You can count on me for whatever graphic needs you have. I can design and print the nametags and the posters are a cinch as well. I have a full color architectural plotter which prints 36" wide by up to 12 feet long. Color laser printers. Even the compatible software for the dye sublimation process that was used on the WV mugs.

I can coordinate with Rufus and I'm sure we won't let the gang down...

Thanks John,

You and Mike (Rufus) work it out.

"When I dream about the moonlight on the Wabash..."

We could visit the Purdue campus and see if they really invented the "Boilermaker" there. Then...well...er....ah...there's the Tippecanoe Battlefield!
-----------
"Hey Little Feather, how come you're all wet?"

"Me Tippecanoe!"
------------
Grissom Air Force Base has an Air Museum, but that looks to be about 50 miles.
Maybe we could save the scenic drive for Indy. My brother-in-law is in the monument business there; he could give us a tour of Crown Hill Cemetery...one of the largest in the country. I hear people are just dying to get in... Don

For those of you who have not seen any of John's work, check out the Canaan Valley pics in my locker. The man does first class work!:) Don

TV???

LarryIII,

I thought I could take on the challenge of getting a couple people with cameras to do a segment in their show about us. Anything in particular you want me to tell them to get them excited?
