WRX hits a house

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...1&page=1&pp=50

proof that some people should not be allowed behind the wheel.

Anyone else think that first pic resembles an SRT4?

He says his pedal got stuck.
Any moron could have killed the engine and come to a stop safely.

Chiketkd 11-09-2004 11:08 PM

Geez, talk about a dumb kid. Said his gas pedal stuck and he was near the top of third gear when he struck the house!

Well let's see...you're in a neighborhood where the speed limit is between 15-25mph. Top of third on a 5spd WRX has to be good for at least 75mph...

i blame the RE-92's.

Matthewmongan 11-09-2004 11:55 PM

aparently their is a problem with the cruse control that causes the car to start accelorating in wot. they had a recall but it doesn't seem like he got it. he said that he was going around 20 hen he shifted into third and thats when it "stuck" to wot. and it was almost redline when he hit the house, thats where the 80mph comes from. good thing subaru hasen't changed their saftey policy when they changed their image. i rember flipping my late 80's loyale i was lucky to walk away from that one and thats why i drive a subaru today.

but yeah, really how hard would it have been to press the clutch, then the brake? Or even just turn the engine off?

SSSVX 11-10-2004 01:03 AM

I would just shut off the engine at around 28mph when *that* happened.....should be able to control and avoid that accident. :p :D

Grasshopper has much to learn behind the wheel.

Maybe he was debating on whether the engine was more important.

I knew I'd seen that thing somewhere else before, this is the second stationary object he has hit in the past couple of months. I just love how he says he doesn't drive like people in minivans, yet really shouldn't be in anything faster than a riding mower himself. Oh well, at least he didn't have a CF bumper and hood, or else there'd be no stopping him.;)

Why anyone would be doing top of third in a residential neighborhood is beyond me...

He said that the accelerator got stuck and accelerated through rest of 3rd gear.. Said that he was only doing 30mph before it got stuck... I believe him too, I've heard about the accelerator getting stuck on WRX's and it isn't pretty... "Why didn't he turn the car off?" or "Why didn't he bump it outta gear and stand on the brakes?".... A runaway machine (whatever it is) is no fun... I had the same thing happen to me when I was racing for Castrol KTM in Australia back in 1998... One of the throttle cables got stuck and I went for one hell of a ride. Ended up ditching the bike and going for a face first ride down a steep rocky hill... (Have the scars to prove it).. It is amazing how we can talk crap about him all day... Hell everyone talked **** about me and said that I couldn't drive when I got into my accident at the dragon. Why did I get into my accident?? Because everything happens so fast you barely have the chance to relize what is going on. And by the time you actually realize what is going on and sort through all the options of what to do to regain control, everything is over... Some of the people that were talking trash about my wreck and saying that I couldn't drive got beat by over 2 seconds at the Subaru Challenge by me. I think I set them straight... That just goes to show that sometimes those little "pre-judgments" are very inaccurate...

In short...... Maybe we shouldn't rip on the guy... I know it is a wierd accident and everyone would be pissed as hell if someone drove through your house. But if it was a mechanical malfunction there isn't much that ya can do... accept try to turn it off and hope that ya don't hit anything...

Just a thought.. Yea his wreck sucks, but lets think positivly... We now know that the WRX is a really safe car too, becuause the guy is ok... And nobody was killed.... That is very good...

GreenMarine 11-10-2004 09:21 AM

Never mind.... I take back my last post... This guy really seems to be a retard!!! I read the thread about his first accident at 12mph!!!! WTF?!?!?!?!
