Stay away from salvaged Titles!
Speaking from experience, DO NOT buy any car with a salvaged Title, unless you plan on parting it out.

I agree !!
Unless you are going to part it out, it may be more of a problem than you think. Many here have had some real big problems. :o

In most states Salvage Title means that the vehicle has had damage which would require 30% to 90% of the vehicles value to repair. So a $5000 dollar vehicle would have had anywhere from $1500 to $4500 worth of damage. After repair the vehicle is required to go through an extensive inspection before it can be driven.
On two occasions I have seen clean title Toyota Certified vehicles (one at a toyota dealer, one at a wholesale auction) with severe frame damage which were only half straightened. The best thing is to inspect the car yourself or take it to a body shop before you buy. I'd say that about half the cars that are severely damaged and go through the insurance companies get branded titles the rest get clean titles. This benefits the insurance companies because they sell for more at auction. |
