Transmission surging issue
All in all, the car made it home great... but I've been noticing a surging issue, generally at low speeds, under light acceleration from 1st to 2nd..... the rpms spike up, and then abruptly shift.... can't be good for the tranny. Plus it's frustrating that I've only had the car 4 days when it started.
I did some research on the "brake band" adjustment... found this link: http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/files/How-To/34159.pdf Sounds like that could be my problem.... and according to the specifics, it is describing my issue perfectly, and says that I'm "wide". What does that mean? Turn the adjustment clockwise? counterclockwise? How much? How do I know if it's right? I couldn't find any of this info. Or.... if it could potentially be another issue? |
Re: Transmission surging issue
Hey Matt! You have a PM. I recommend a brake band adjustment. It took care of this with my Laguna.

Re: Transmission surging issue
^^ Thanks Mike!
Makes perfect sense about the low line pressure. It RARELY ever happens with me driving... but happens to my wife often..... she drives like an old lady and likes to idle around town. I responded back... but if anyone else can chime in, I'd appreciate it. How do I adjust the brake band? To the left? To the right? How much? How can I tell it's done right? |
