Front speakers.. wtf

I bought some Rockford 6.5's for the doors, then followed instructions on here how to drill out the 6 tiny spot welds and remove the old speakers. I'm left with the triangular metal ring that some mound of **** call a Subaru engineer designed, and the new speakers don't fit in them.. at all. It looks like I'm gonna have to dremel out a wider hole and patiently pound out another flat area around it for me to tapscrew the speaker into, then pray there's enough room in the door for the magnet. What a pain in the ass.

See attached pic for what I'm referring to.

You might consider blaming the Rockford engineer who made the speaker basket oversized. My Infinity component woofer fit perfectly in the original mounting bracket.

I don't want woofers, I want two-ways.

What good are 2-ways in the door pointing at your leg? That's what the tweeters in the dash are for. Sound waves from the woofer also distort sound from the tweeter in a 2-way config. Just my opinion, to each his own.

FIRST of all, a woofer is just a "largeish" speaker... like the part of it thats not fitting... Second of all, it being a two way has nothing to do with it being an oversized 6.5 rather than a regular 6.5.

Also, components are much better, with the tweeters in dash, and the woofers in the doors.

Lastly, just make your own adapter out of wood... seal it and you won't have to worry about any moisture issues. and you can angle the speaker a bit and make it fit better. plus, wood works as a better baffle then metal.

Circuit city just mounted my new speakers to the door itself and gave me the old rings and speakers(still toghether).

I just spent the money and had best buy install it. They have plastic spacers and clamps which hold them down nice and snug.. a lot better than putting new speakers on the rinky dink metal ones from subaru. Thundering, mine would have been in the way of the window had I done that.

If you want them aimed up toward you, the foresters have a speaker bracket that looks like it would fit and it angles the speakers upward.
