RIP Gary Conner

RIP Gary Conner.

At quitting time today, the boss came in and told us that the reason Gary didn't come to work today was that he had passed away during the night. They spent the day trying to find him, since he NEVER called off or NoShowed.

Gary was a really great guy! I sat on the bench with him yesterday swapping car stories and trying to get him to bring his 63 Corvette to the airport. In fact, that was the LAST thing I ever got to say to him.

Rest, friend! You were a special kind of guy.

I will not be racing this weekend. I may be at a funeral. I will still be there to cook though.

I am sorry that you lost a friend, again, Jerry.
We can only hope that we see some of our friends again, when the time comes.

Energy can not be created or destroyed.

There are alot of empty seats at the table now, but if what "they" say is true, the Reunion will be awesome!:)

Here is to hope.

Re: RIP Gary Conner

Ever since that day, I have been 'pressed into service' to cover his job.
The funeral was 'private' so we never got to say goodby. While driving his route on friday, I had to stop the bus so the 'private' procession could go on.
I felt like 'poking' my bus into the middle for the ride to the cemetary, (since I was going that way anyhow)
When a friend passes and you are the only one with the 'credentials' left standing, HOW are you supposed to feel? I was driving HIS bus! I am no longer a driver, but the slot had to be filled.
I WANTED to be in that procession. I had to STOP doing 'his job' so the procession could 'flow'.
The boss had mentioned shutting down for that hour and putting several busses in that procession.
I had some trouble seeing for the next few miles of Gary's run.
Family take note. A lot of times, CO-WORKERS are closer than 'family' and are not to be excluded when someone passes. WE see them every day! 'Family' can't say that in most cases!
