replacing lower control arm
Fellers,
My wife smacked the curb pulling into her icy parking lot at work. The front driver's side rim has a good dent along the edge, and the lower control arm has a good little gash. A new one is $250 (lowest), i'll probably just get one from a salvage yard for about $100. is this hard to replace? Hopefully my local shop will let me bring my own part and have them swap it out since my business is swamped right now. Anyone have a driver's side rim they'd like to sell. thanks Tdog Cincinnati, OH |
I haven't yet removed the arm, but have removed the rest of the front suspension on my parts car.
From memory here (scary I know...) -Remove wheel -Remove dust cap -Remove 32mm axle nut -Remove ball joint bolts (3) That should get you access to the arm. You will need to remove the bolts holding the arm in place. You will not need to remove the brake components, tie rod ends, or struts to get to the arm. Thinking about it, it doesn't sound like too bad a job. Todd |
