German cars are as follows for the Shifter block.

Top button - Power antenna
Bottom Button - Manual Mode
Shifter button - 'econ' mode

USA

Top button - Shift Lock
Button Button - BLANK
Shifter Button - Manual Mode


What is the Japanese lay out? Anyone have a pic??

AND... Do German cars have no shift lock button?

These photos are from the Japanese Alcyone SVX catalog. It seems that their layout is very similar to ours. This is from Jamsvx,s site, but my german catalogues dont show anything different.

Top button - Shift Lock Release
Bottom Button - Power mode
Shifter button - Manual mode

The European version has the Power Antenna button because their head unit does not lower the aerial when playing CDs. They do not have the emergency shift lock release.

superb. I think I'm going to replace the 'econ' sticker on the german shifter im getting with an equally stock looking 'power' sticker just because I'm really pathetic...

I haven't decided wether to keep the power antenna switch, or put in the shift lock switch....

Does that picture say 'Tant' for the power antenna switch? um....why?

It doesn't say Tant. Look closely, what you are seeing is the electrical symbol for "antenna" http://www.wjoe.com/symbols/cs_antenna_general1.gif followed by the abbreviation ANT

Radio controls... and no they can't be wired(at least easily) to work in a USDM car

are you sure they can't be wired in?? hmm... Im sure you could wire them very easily to an aftermarket set up (does anyone really use the stock set up anymore?)

I know Mike had one a long time ago...or at least I think he had one... oh I dont know anymore.

Well the JDM radios have extra wires to accomodate the steering controls and thats why it won't work with stock. Aftermarket might be possible but still a lot of work I would think.

taht would be the best mod ever... that wheel just looks so much beter than the usdm vers..... plus radio controls?

talk about ahead of its time...
