grounds and grounds
ok I"ve been trying to figure out where to run New ground wires and the alternator ground upgrade.
I haven't looked real hard ( lazy I guess) .. From what I remember one use's 4 guage wire ( battery wire I hope) ONe lead goes to the alternator then to the AC ground, then jumps over to the Negative side of the alternator. PLus another Ground wire is added to the existing ground that is in place. I Know I have a top mount battery, but it has the places if a side post was used... HOpe I got this right. IF there are any other upgrades to wiring.. Please lemme know.. ANd of someone could just point me on this small alternator upgrade that would be great. SVX1999 I"M not really sure what kind of wire to get... I"ve heard just regualr battery cable is fine, then fine 4 guage stereo wire.. I dunno. thanks again for any and all help. |
look in the How To folder in the personal lockers section. if you own a 99 model I'd like to know where you got it, if that's just a handle then never mind.

Using the SEARCH button, type TEST RESULTS in the keyword box and SVXCESS in the username box. Click on the "Alternator Wiring Upgrade: TEST RESULTS" thread. The first post by me has the readings I obtained after doing the mod, under a variety of load conditions. Scroll down a couple of messages to "Wiring Mod Answers" Here I have links to photos and very detailed written step-by-step instructions.
I believe 4ga. stereo wiring is preferable. It has a thicker outer casing and seems to be much more flexible at various temperatures. You can also have it custom made to whatever lengths you choose, as opposed to buying off the shelf wiring. |
ground and grounds
Thank you so much for pointing me in a Direction. I will check out the lockers and take a look.
SVX1999 PS I never said anything about having a 99 model year Lee. maybe you read my name or something else. Hell even I know there is no such thing as 1999 SVX or 1998.. NOt unless Subaru made a few, kept a few and NEVER told anyone.. |
