I hope I'm not going OT here, but I have been wondering lately.........what does SVX stand for?
Sport Vehicle Experimental?
If Land Rover is using the abbreviation also, it must be generic

SilverSpear 11-25-2007 12:29 AM

Hmmm... so much for name exclusivity... the term SVX was used on Hyundai and now on a Land Rover

I don't think anyone really knows. I've seen "Subaru Vehicle X(10)" or Subaru Vehicle Experimental.

kuroneko_sama 11-25-2007 08:23 AM

i wonder what hyundai and landrover's SVX stand for?

robyo23 11-27-2007 10:24 AM

I don't think we have to worry - apparently they will be even more rare than ours anyway

"The SVX is a 200-vehicle limited edition "

I guess since Lamborghini sold cars for 1 mil+ for their exclusivity they think someone wants to buy an ugly land rover for double the loaded one just because there are 200 of them.

I have a very suave big Japanese catalogue from the launch time in 1991/2, and they explain in brackets that SVX means Subaru Vehicle X

Joe:)

kuroneko_sama 11-28-2007 10:24 AM

but what does the "x" stand for?

roman numeral 10? experimental? expensive? extraordinary?

exessive? extreme? xenophobe? xylaphone? x-tra glass?
