Winter mode! Painted my wheels. *pic*
So I got bored the other day. Picked up some sandpaper and spray paint and went to work.
The color is Rust-oleum Black Night Metallic. It's a dark gunmetal/black color with lots of metallic flakes. Looks awesome in person. http://www.bwanasvx.com/pics/svx/winter/pics%20010.jpg This one shows the metallic: http://www.bwanasvx.com/pics/svx/winter/pics%20007.jpg (yes, i know i painted over the wheel weights...but I dont really care, :p ) Another view: http://www.bwanasvx.com/pics/svx/winter/pics%20012.jpg I clearcoated one wheel and couldnt tell the difference, we'll see if it effects how the paint holds up through the winter. If they hold up nicely, I may consider doing the same color on my STi wheels. |
Protect them from the salt this winter, clear coat all the rims. Next time you balance your wheels, tell the shop to put all the weights on the inside part of the rim. While you're at it, paint the calipers too. Nice job!

Im not really too worried about how they look after the winter...or during for that matter. The calipers might be a project for the winter if I can hijack another car to use for a day or so. |
Spiffy. Black rims on a red car is definitely a nice look.
