Part or Rebuild??

Well, my 1996 svx (approx 93,000mi), who i love(ed) so much, recently had a run in with a boulder. The impact happened near almost head on. Now i havent been able to fully determine the damage, but needless to say, the car frame and body is done for. However im planing on taking out everyting that is still usable.
-Possibly the engine (93,000mi)
-Almost certainly tranny (93,000mi)
-Exahust
-Interior (beige leather)
-baisically anything that does not consist of the front end...
(ill have a better idea if the engine is still good or not in a few days)
Anyway, im debating if i should part the car (probably to everyone on this site) or to try and find another svx with a blown engine/transmission/other problems and swap parts.

So, my questions are:
-Should i part it out, or should i rebuild?
-Does anyone have an svx with a messed up engine or something that i can buy
-approx. how much would i get if i parted this out

im posting this here rather than in the "wanted or for sale" section because im not really sure what to do with it yet.
Btw, i live in York PA, and if u would like to contact me via email its Bluecaboose999@gmail.com

As u can see the front is badly damaged. We still havent goten a good a good look at the engine, but hopefully its still ok (obviously the radiator and stuff is probably screwed up. But most of the stuff behind the engine compartment is still in good condition.

Did your windshield not crack?!

Also, did the airbag deploy on the driver's side? (I see the passenger side airbag only)

In the third picture it linda looks like the windshield is cracked on the passenger side.

For the amount it would cost you to replace the airbag system alone you could replace the entire car.

Recommendation: write it off, buy it back, buy another, pocket the rest of the cash, keep driving.

The right headlight lense is still good! and pretty clear looking too. Id have to say either do as mentioned or do as you were thinking; Find an SVX with bad motor and tranny and rebuild that one. the wrecked one can be parted out afterword for interior parts and glass and miscelanious non-engine stuff.

Were you driving it at the time, or is this a mishap caused by other? From the looks of how much energy this thing absorbed.... that must of hurt! :(

wow! how big was this "boulder"?!?

lol, yeah, i was actually only going between 35-45 mph, but i guess that was enough. Fortunately im ok (apart from my right leg is kinda messed up) a testament to subarus wonderfull enginering. And as for the boulder, it was rather large. =)

Now thats a quality car when the windsheild does not crack but yeah there is not a whole lot of svxs left so try to rebuild. Thoses pics are heart breaking knowing how much i love my svx and if that happened to mine i would be at a loss. But i put full covrage insurance on my svx did you do the same?

but if you part it i am looking for the powersteering pump

best luck
Phill
