Trans resistor OK?

How can you tell if the transmission line pressure resistor behind the battery is working properly? Is this either an all-good or totally defective type thing or do they go gradually? I feel my 1st to 2nd shifts on my rebuilt trans are too rough...

Also, what would the part #be for a new resistor?

Also, also, does anyone have an extra good one they'd like to part with?

Thanks!

don't know about the OEM part number,

the power light will be blinking (I think 16 times) just after starting if the TCU thinks the resistor is bad.

It can be checked with a VOM, should be between 9 and 15 ohms.

search past posts, the OEM part is expensive, but suitable substitutes can be gotten at an electronics house for maybe a buck or two - look for a 20 watt, 12 ohm resistor.

I got used one out of a Legacy.

Is the Legacy resistor a straight swap with an SVX one or does it need to be modified in any way? I just ordered a used Legacy resistor and would appreciare any insight here on installation. Thanks!
