Need Advice about buying a used SVX
 

I plan on purchasing an SVX. Can anyone offer tips as to what to be aware of with regard to potential problem areas???

I am not mechanically inclined, educated nor astute so problems will only add to the purchase price for me.

All of the ones for sale here in the Pacific Northwest have well over 100,000 miles on the odometer. These cars get driven a lot but sellers seem to ask a lot for even high mileage 10 year old models.

I keep reading about transmission problems. I thought they were all recalled and retrofitted, reworked and rebuilt by the dealerships under some sort of warranty agreement or is that not the case?

Maybe this subject has already been broached here and I just need to find it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

my advice would be to lean on someone who knows what the car should be like already. I know elninoalex lives in Beaverton, send him a PM. There are probabably others in the area too, but I can't remember now.

other than that, the question has been asked and answered many times, try the search function. typical problems (but not to everybody) are the transmission and rear wheel bearings.
