Five speed almost complete

I pick up my car tonight with all the bugs sorted out except for the speed which I soon hope to fix with Harvey & Phils help. Took it for a run tonight, I am more convinced that Subaru would have sold a lot more if they had of come out with the 5 or 6 speed option. My engine has 300,000 k but you wouldn't know it the way it performed, you can go back to third at 160 k in a corner and as you power in the car just glues its self to the road. The ability to accelerate out of the corner and control when the transmission changes gear just changes the whole car completly. If you consider I am now runner a 3.5 diff in stead of a 3.7 and have the low rev intake manfold removed it just a different car. I can highly recommend going to the effort to get it done.

Great to hear its up and running!

What do you mean about the manifold?

I believe your final drive is 3.90...not 3.54

Good to hear the 5MT swap is going well. I need to finish up those struts for you so that you can finish up with all your updates.

The rear diff in Australia is 3.7 but I put in A WRX box which ment I had to get a crown wheel and pinion from the USA. Mychailo got it organise for me. The answer to the other question is the "Induction Control System" some of the parts were broke so I had to remove it so now the car needs to be reved to get full power. I do plan on fixing it.

Congrats,!!

One day, if I drive a 5mt svx, I will feel more on what do you guys mean... :)

You go 160km/h at 3rd gear, what was your rpm?

Dessertrunner 03-24-2006 02:37 AM

I am reading the speed on a GPS on the dash so at speed it is hard to read and concentrate on the cornering, I was changing in to 4 at around 6,000 rpm our engines don't cut out as far as I know. Have to be a little carful with the engine consider the K's on it. One thing for sure when the SC is fitted I think it will be hard work trying to drive the car at speed. Easy to screw it up and get kill if you are not carefull. Feel even now I have had to learn to drive the car again, its a whole different ball game you really have to learn the whole thing again. At 5-6,000 rpm it is a totally different car.

Congratulations

Now the are two of us, we'll have to line together and go for a drag. Why didn't you just use wrx diff with the 3.454 ratio instead of getting a crown wheel from the states?

Dessertrunner 03-29-2006 12:15 AM

Just easier to do it that way, now we both have to sort out the speedo together. One thing for sure we are both going to get pain from this one. Have you had a look at the tread we have going on sorting out the Speedo. I don't feel so lonely now. Are you driving your car I have doen about 3,500k with no speedo.
