Inline transmission fluid filter?

Greetings,
I found an inline transmission fluid filter along the drivers side frame rail when I pulled the lower front valance to do an oil change. Is this an OEM filter or is there a FRAM or Purolator pert number. I thought I remember seeing a comment in a thread that mentioned a factory installed supplemental filter.
Thanks,
Keith
This is not the spin on like Tom has recommended, but a ~2.5" dia. cylindrical metal filter with hose barbs at each end.

Re: Inline transmission fluid filter?

If it's a tiny, black filter then it's the stock transmission filter. They as far as I know can only be replaced with Factory Subaru filters.
