frick the EPA

As of yet, i am still waiting for my wrx front clip (for the 5 spd trans swap)that i ordered from the land of the rising sun. unfourtunately, the epa is haveing me fill out all this paper work, to make sure the motor is not intended to be used on the streets, but only offroad race use only. im not even keeping the motor, but if i tell them this, they have to restart the whole process, and my customs broker tells me there is a very high possibility if i do that, they just keep the whole clip as opposed to refiling all the paperwork and starting a new investigation. hows that for luck. according to origional dates, the clip should have reached mitchel intl airport(about 5 blocks from where i work) in milw this tuesday. who knows now. im just venting, and slightly annoyed. screw the EPA.

Gov't Bastards! question though, why did you order a complete front clip to do just a 5mt swap?

redlinedeath 01-21-2008 07:09 PM

it was only 1000 dollars for the full front clip(+450 for shipping). i figured i could sell the ej20, ecu and remaining bits for money to buy the 5spd kit with all the custom parts from tom. it actually worked out quite nicely. if i get my clip soon at least. the broker told me this is rare to have to deal with all this, i just happened to be a random person they checked out. my luck...

And where did you get it :) other than Japan, $1k sounds like a good deal

1450 with shipping, from flashoptions.com wrx front clip. less then 40k on the motor(not that im keeping it) esentially, im getting a hydro clutch 5spd and all necessary(sp?) parts for 1500. cause the motor is used to aquire the kit from tom. so basically 1500 gets me the trans, starter, pedal set, shifter assembly, master cyl, and every single thing conceivable (except 4.11 rear end) and that includes all my modified parts for the swap. well, that is, if my clip ever gets here.
