RX8 Wheels

Although I have had these wheels for some time, and they were on my old Silver. I finally got around to putting them on my Laguna. Just put a set of new Falken Azenis ST-115 235-40-18. Dont care for the tires as much as the Michelin pilot sports though. Someone could probably get a 245 to fit, but it might rub in the rear.

Just thought I would post a pic for anyone thinking about putting RX8 wheels on there SVX.

wheel specs.
*50mm offset
*18" x 8" Alloy
*2004-2007 Mazda RX8
*Bolt Pattern 5x114.3
*Lug centric mounting
*2lbs lighter with tire than stock wheel and tire.

enjoy

VERY nice! I love the way these wheels look on the SVX!

The rx8 rims look sharp:).

I was hung up on either the rx8 rims or the muranos, but the murano deal came first.

Now that you said its about 2 pounds lighter per rim... I may have to reconsider

Oh.... almost forgot. Not shown in this pic, but center caps from I think an 02 Legacy fit quite nicely. Just so people dont ask what model Mazda it is:lol:

Mike621 10-12-2007 06:14 AM

Good thinking! I was wondering if you were going to modify/fill the centers.

Myxalplyx 10-12-2007 06:32 AM

Good look.

look good...murano wheels feel more heavier and stabil.

2 lbs lighter per corner is a very worthwhile upgrade, plus they look really good!

Nice one.

Joe:)

Rims

I question whether the tire/rim combo actually weighs less than the OEM. The rim itself is 2.4 pounds heavier than the OEM.

Also, instead of depending completely on lugcentric mounting, I recommend buying hubcentric spacers.

I cant say for sure the difference in wheel wight. However, I did weigh the factory wheel and tire, and rx8 wheel and tire on a digital UPS scale. The proof was in the pudding. Now im sure there will be weight differences in different wheel and tire combos, but my setup is almost 2lbs lighter.

I did use hub centric rings, just couldent remember at the time what dimensions were. I think it was 60mm RX8 hub and 48mm SVX hub? Can remember off hand. Basicly, my point was you need new lugs to mount them. Should have clearafied that better

I plan on going with RX-8 rims sometime over the winter, hopefully with a set of 255/35/18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's.:D:D

The wheels fit so nice on the svx. I dont know about 255s though. I think they will rub in the rear. My 235s are tight. 235s sit nice and square with the wheel. Let us know though, because I see new tires in my future. I dont care for the falkins much.

Hmm...The Eagle F1's come in 235/40/18, so I have both choices, but the 235/40 is about a half inch taller overall than a 255/35, so the rubbing might not be so much of an issue.

Crazy_pilot 10-14-2007 08:50 PM

Oh, and I know LAN is running 255/35/18's on his 8" wide wheels with a 49mm offset, so they should work (in theory). A guy around here with a 94 had the plastic lip around the bottom of the rear fender removed to help with his clearance issues. He's running 17" Mustang wheels that he had machined to reduce the offset as much as possible. He said the tires would only touch the plastic, and once it was gone everything was fine.
