Re: Wanted: Crank/Cam Position Sensors

You can use the Crank and cam sensors from a EJ motor, the mounting tab is different, but can be modded to work, the sensor is the same thing, I have done this, it will work

Re: Wanted: Crank/Cam Position Sensors

Thanks, I may resort to a EJ22 sensor, but if I can I'd like to not have to modify anything.

cheers

New EJ22 ones are about $20 on Rockauto.com (for a 1998 Impreza 2.2).....a bit cheaper than the SVX one.....;)

Re: Wanted: Crank/Cam Position Sensors

Yeah! Crazy the difference for a slightly different shape of plastic.

I take it I'd need a matching plug for the Legacy sensor, and then file/slot the bolt hole to line up with the SVX CPS bolt hole?

cheers

Re: Wanted: Crank/Cam Position Sensors

Nope, the SVX wiring plugs right into it, then just turn the sensor until the SVX bolt will catch the side of the sensor (the hole is a slightly different distance out).
The sensor has no pressure on it, so the bolt is just to hold it in.

Re: Wanted: Crank/Cam Position Sensors

Thanks for that! I picked up a CPS from a 2003 Impreza Outback (was the only Subaru at the junkyard) and it worked. Had the correct plug and oriented it as you described. I appreciate the help. Here are some photos for anyone searching this in the future.

If anyone has a working #1 crank sensor (vertical plug), I'm still interested.

cheers

I've got a #1 sensor on my parts car. I'll remove it this morning and send you a PM when I'm sure I didn't damage it.
It's 0.2 degrees C out there.

Awesome! I appreciate it, working in the cold is no fun.

Re: Wanted: Crank/Cam Position Sensors

On mine there's a vertical plug Jecs A29-000R1? and Jecs A29-000R00 with an angled plug. Which is it?

Re: Wanted: Crank/Cam Position Sensors

The vertical plug A29-000R1, should be the one slightly closer to the PS pump.

Cheers
