Availability of shock absorbers and Koni

Hi There,

I just bought my first SVX and am very happy.
Just one question. Are there other shock absorbers available other then Koni or original. I cannot find any other brand available.
Any advice?

Furthermore the Dutch manufacturer Koni has supplied all sets to the USA.
Which suppliers do have these in stock

Try here. Don't know if they'll ship internationally.

There are no other suppliers. The new original struts have been sitting on a shelf somewhere for 17 years and are prone to leakage before or soon after the 1 year warranty is up.

Several years ago I was reading about another company that made them for the SVX. They were sold through Japan, but were also made in your country. You might check them out---it was a complete suspension system (coilovers) and not just inserts.

Aragosta Technics, I believe.

They were very expensive through Japan, but I bet you could get up a group buy for a better price.

Yeah, I was thinking of Aragostas as well. I think they were (at the time) something like $4,000 though.

I'm thinking of just buying a set of Penske's or KW struts, making my own mounts, and throwing some Eibach springs in there. Still not the cheapest, but it would be a VERY high quality item and would handle the car well.

Custom stuff doesn't always have to be expensive, you just have to do the right research first. KW's or Penske's WOULD however, be expensive though. hahaha

Penske coilovers are what came on my ebony. I sold them to Seraphinwolf though as I did not need them. From what I remember they were for a Hyundai Tiburon and he cut the dog ears off the base of the strut body and welded on new ones to mate to the SVX hub properly... He auto-x'd the car a few times before he sold it and said they were amazing...
