rad/tranny cooler install help...

My top tank cracked :( so i am ordering a new rad (best price from liberty, thanx guys) while i am at it, i want to put in the b&m tranny cooler. and keep the stock one. unless someone knows a svx mech north of bellingham, mine is going to do it. So i need to know where it goes and any specifics on steps to give him. also some part/model numbers.

by the way... where is the stock tran cooler?

I would like to put in a aftermarket tranny cooler w/fan and filter.
models for both and location of install.

How can I test the rad fans to insure operation? I noticed they didn't kick in when the top cracked... no point installing all this stuff if the fans don't work...

are there any other parts that will work? Or does the SVX have no compatible parts at all???

thanx, i love this sight. it's my new home page.

Stock cooler is in the radiator.

Testing rad fans: Turn on A/C.

Any other parts for what? From other Subaru's? If the part number is 00000PA000 then it's an SVX specific part.

so, the cooler comes with the radiator, sweet!

now, how about the filter. where does that go, and where do i get one? a model would be super helpful.

all i have to do is turn on the a/c and the fans should turn on? and if they don't what does that mean? that i need new fan motors?

sweet, thanx again.. you guys friggin' rule!!!

I recomend istalling the tranny cooler in front of the AC condenser. That involves pulling off the grille, all four light assemblies and the bumper cover, but I think it's worth having it way out in front. I also recommend unbolting the condenser so you have more room to wiggle in the cooler without damaging the condenser's fins.

Some people put theirs in between the condenser and radiator. The installation involves less work, but I don't understand why you'd want the cooler in between two really hot things.
