Acura ZDX
What do you guys think?
http://www.acura.com/Exterior360.asp...modelYear=2010 Saw a white one driving around today and I actually like it, at least from a design standpoint. I usually despise the entire category of SUVs/crossovers, but I think a nice pearly white one would look great in the driveway next to my pearly. They both have the white body/black roof thing going on. Couldn't find a picture of a white one, but you get the idea: http://cache.gawker.com/assets/image...Acura_ZDX2.jpg 300 HP 3.7L VTEC V-6, Super Handling AWD, and 2x the useful seating capacity and ground clearance of my svx. |
Re: Acura ZDX
i don't hAte it, but they must be pretty pricey. i saw a honda crosstour for $37k. as a new kia owner, i must be out of touch with with how much other new cars cost these days.

Re: Acura ZDX
I like the styling a quite a bit, I think its pretty cool looking, although from the look of that sloping rear window, it doesn't appear very roomy inside.
(I absolutely hate the styling of the Honda version.) |
Re: Acura ZDX
The car would be decent, if it weren't the size of a house, and almost as expensive.
This, the CrossTour, and ZDX, BMW X6, and 5-series GT... are all huge. They are basically the size of a generous CUV, with a fastback roofline. It kind of becomes the worst of both worlds... The roofline is aerodynamic, but the bulk of the vehicle makes it almost a moot point. The practicality of having a vehicle that big is hampered by having such an impractical low roofline. Coupes are coupes, SUVs are SUVs... it is hard to make one car be both, competently. I wish we could get some more modest-sized 5-doors, like Mazda 6 5-door from overseas, or Audi A5 Sportback. They have the roofline, mostly anyway, the liftback just makes it more of a practical opening, and the size isn't too outrageous for a modest, sleek sedan. But really, I don't need much more than a coupe about SVX's size, or a very little bit smaller, with a sleek liftback. If I wanted a big vehicle, I would get one with a full roof, and all of the practical enclosed space. I don't see the useful benefit of the ZDX over the MDX. The sleek roofline is moot on a vehicle that needs to be that big for practicality. It might as well have all of the practicality, and the full length roof. |
Re: Acura ZDX
The back seat is unusable.

Re: Acura ZDX
Which end is the front? You know where auto styling is heading when Acura starts modeling their cars after Fords and Caddies.

Yea the back seats look kinda small, but seriously with how enormous cars have gotten, it's probably still got tons of room. Could probably stand to be a lot lower to the ground though. I like how concept-y it looks though, with the door handles and whatnot. Starts at ~$45k, btw. Anyway, just thought I'd share. Not every day a car makes an SVX owner think "hey, that looks weird, in kind of an awesome way". |
