Idle rpm in gear?

What's everyone rpms at idle in and out of gear? And what do those 2 lines on the tach between 0-1000revs indicate?

Mine seems to have dropped a couple hundred to about 500 in gear according to those deceptive lines since the raditor swap I had done And it's got a noticible buzz at that low idle when it used to be undectably running at idle.

That's a good question on the Tach lines. The buzz is a heat shield somewhere on the exhaust. My idle speeds jumps around some depending on, air & engine temperature, a/c, in and out of gear. As long as it's steady and the engine is smooth I don't worry about it. Usually in the 750(one line down?) to 1000 rpm range.

While all the other ranges have thin-thick-thin lines, denoting 250, 500, and 750 RPMs, the 0-1000 range only has thick-thin lines, which makes me think that it indicates 500 and 750 RPM. It's possible that it's not very accurate at revs below 500 RPM and the engine would not normally be at that RPM, so they decided to omit it.

My SVX usually idles at just past the first thick line, which I guess to be about 600, when hot and stopped while in gear.

Idle speed is supposed to be about 1000RPM when the engine is cold (can be higher if it's especially cold outside) and around 600RPM when it's warmed up.

And the idle speed is not adjustable. Right?

Not really, as far as I know. Not unless you consider stuff that's broken to be an 'adjustment' of the idle speed from 'stable' to 'not stable.'

:D

If everything works right, the ECU will idle the engine at those speeds and there's really nothing you can do to adjust the idle besides making sure that everything works as it should.

No adjustment on the throttle cable??
