roof paint code
Hi all! looking for the paint code for the black roof and boot/trunk......so far I have found 99,99k,210 and none seem to relate. My local paint supplier only has 204 in his swatch......has anybody "cracked it yet"?

When I had my spoiler painted, the shop told me it was black. I asked if it would match and he said yes. It did, but he didn't give me a paint code. I will try to find out the number. (I did know that it was black - duh) :)

I have a '93 UK black car, I am presuming it is ebony pearl. Like Angi and Phils' car, the colour is a red mica underneath, and so far as I can see is the same all over the car. Surely the paint code is written on the VIN plate, and this is the colour for the whole car? Or is it the case that you think ebony cars had ebony body colour, but the roof and bootlid are a different colour, and so a different paint code.? Enlighten me here. Is the black car actually two different colours? Joe  |
Joe
The 92s were a color with the black boot and roof or two tone. The paint code shows what the body color is, but not the black paint code. It is a different color than the ebony (red or green fleck). |

The only two black cars I have seen have been red mica. Joe Spitz site only lists one type, Ebony Mica. Jamsvx site lists only one black colour either. Do we have a colour code available for this green mica? Do they call it a different name? On my claret car, the roof and bootlid are black. So also is the plastic panel just below the fixed rear window on each side. Now on the UK car, this panel is definitely Ebony Mica, with the red tinge. So I presumed the roof and bootlid were the same. Is this not the case? Joe  |

I called Subaru Japan's Customer Service. All but one of the JDM SVX models with the black roof/trunk lid used a solid black color #074. The black mica models used #235 for the whole vehicle, including the rear quarter garnish.
They were unable to verify 100% that the solid black color was #074 as they are on skeleton staff this week due to the Golden Week holiday period in Japan. However, their records show that #074 was the only solid black color at that time. |
Thanks Joe, Now I'm really confused! :D
The colour on my V5 is ebony, code 222, which is a very dark grey and I have had a can mixed up by a trade paint supplier and matches perfect, from what I've read up on I can only agree with Earl. They only list the one colour of the car and not the solid black which is roof, boot, and side trim. I've bought a spoiler Kit of a Gem of a guy in CA USA, I take it, it needs to be black to match. Thanks Paddlesnz for the code, will try that one with the supplier. John |
V5 or VIN?

Paddles has just confirmed what I see on my UK '93 Ebony. The whole car is painted in the red mica colour, roof, bootlid and side plastic flashes. The code on the VIN is #235. Just to avoid further confusion, you should check the colour code listed on the VIN plate which is riveted to the lhs suspension turret under the bonnet. The paint code is on the bottom left of this silver plate. The reason I mention this, the TRIM code for my JDM Claret car is also [probably coincidentally] 222. This relates to the purple ecsaine seats. Just hoping your V5 has not mixed up the codes. However, far more likely, your Ebony may be the green mica type, which is a different mix, therefore must be a different code. If so, I really hope you are coming to JAE, I would love to see it, compare the difference. Thanks for the info Paul. Joe :) |

Joe, are you sure your TRIM code is 222? Mine is 220. |
Joe,
Took a look at the vin plate: Paint 222 Trim 220 The colour is definately grey/grey and not grey/green and solid black roof, hope you are now confused so I'm not on my own! :) Going to have a go at www.auto-paint.co.uk tomorrow as they say they can mix any colour £9.95 delivered, will keep you posted John |
Totally Trim.
OK guys.
Sorry for adding to the confusion. Just checked the plate, my trim code is 220, just as Paddles suspected. :( Thing is, I really, really wanted it to be 222. You know, like three 2s is six, the Number of the Beast and all that. And I know a Plum is a fruit, not a beast, with a heart of stone and all, but I like to think of her as a beast. Some of the time anyway. Or three 2s could be three little ducks. My interior could be more ducky wucky than everybody else. OK, I'll stop. John, if your car is the lovely dark metallic grey, then it would be good if you can come to JAE, just to make James homesick!! :p :D Joe |

I am straining to recall the actual images but the black Oz delivered SVX's seemed to be a flat (ie, no tint or flake) all over in an identical black to the roof of the 1992-94 series cars and it was only when I saw the 4WS SVX (that is now for sale by the present owner in Canberra) that I saw the red mica for the first time - I am 99% sure that the Oz black cars did not have a tint in them - I will try and dig up the email of a fellow who has a black one and see what his paint code is. Cheers James *getting SVXitis something shocking!!* |
