The first accident on my Teal SVX

Someone rolled back from the upper parking lot to the lower parking lot and crashed into my Teal SVX about 2pm (4.5hrs ago) this afternoon. This is the first accident she got over my long ownership. When I bought her, she was only 55K, right now it's only 71K plus miles. It's 92 LS-L AWD touring package, all stock with two tranny coolers added. Tranny was rebuilt when she's around 35K and transfer clutch has been changed on my hand. I have a feeling she'd get totalled - - - what do you guys say? Unbelievably, that lady driver could roll her car back from the hill and crashed into my car. :( I could tell from her bumper - her car was probably stuck on my front fender until she stopped.

What do you guys say? My teal SVX engine is powerful and tranny shifts great and rides smooth. :(

I'm stunned at the amount of damage! The whole side of the car??

There's really nothing I can say but that you have my sympathy and to wish you all the best with the insurance companies, in the hope they'll deal deal fairly.

Kind regards,
Tania.

It could have been worse - your car could have went into the yellow SVX next door!!! (what a cool type of yellow - it must be a custom paint job - more photos please...)

A 92, umm it looks way totaled to me....sorry for your loss, that is such low miles but the insurance company don't care about that or that it's a SVX. It's just a 16 year old car to them worth about nothing. Thats the price you pay for having such a old car like all of us. Damn it:mad:

they shouldn't total it. You just need a fender, door, and a quarter panel easy fix. Just hope the suspension isn't screwed up.

Thank you. Her insurance is State Auto hopefully they're good company and I hope to meet a nice adjuster.

The more I look at my teal SVX now, the more I feel hurt. Yes, she caused the whole side damage of my car. And it was in good shape.

My rear quarter panel was first hit pretty deep and she was still reversing and dragged thru my driver side door and hit my front fender really deep again with different angle until her car was not be able to move. (my analysis)

Please tell me how would this happen???

I took a picture from where she began to reverse back and hit my car. :(

Yes, Danny! She did all the damage to my SVX. It was in a sunny day time about 2pm and there was no rain. She was not either drunk or a very old lady. How?? She shouldn't get her driver license in my opinions. She was probably in a wrong gear and got panic and kept pressing the gas pedal. *sigh*

*that pos is an auto i've asked*

Sorry to hear about that :(.

I think the worst part is the fact that you weren't even driving and it was sitting there "away from danger".

Other people make it so hard for us to have nice things. Hopefully the adjuster will be more favorable towards you being that you have a pristine yellow parked right next to it.

From the picture, the ditch should have stopped her. At that point, she should have gone forward, but she must have stepped on the gas and got a run at the hill. Because she was in the car and "in control" of it at one point, that should help. I hope anyways. The only thing she didn't break from the pictures, is the front turn signal. Good luck and keep us informed. I am amazed at the damage and incompatence of this driver.

I feel for you! That is such a freak accident! And that's a lot more damage than what I got when I was rear ended in June. (Check out my Rear Ended thread for details.) It even looks like more damage then Downforlow's car got a couple weeks ago when someone U-turned into the side of his car. He raced his in that condition at the Summer Sizzler Autocross. Just be glad she didn't have Nationwide, like the lady that hit me! I think it's likely that they'll try to total your car. But even if they do, you might be able to get it repaired and get a salvage title. Since she messed up so badly, so much more than a typical accident, maybe that will work in your favor. It's so unfair that her car seemed to get a lot less damage than yours!

Body shop estimate > "book" value of the car = Total Loss, in insurance-speak.

Bummer, but true.

I don't understand how this happened. I say you go after the owner and make him/her buy another SVX...OR ELSE.

Re: The first accident on my Teal SVX

After the Saturday's freak accident, once I get home and see the skin of my car like that, it looks scary and painful. My heart really feels the pain now. This car has stayed with me for a long time, I brought her to attend Reading Meet before, mini meet, different-different places and also a few fun-and-pleasure road trips with my friends. They have commented this car rode nice and quiet. I also had a lot of fun with a few big snow storms in town.......she might just be gone like this!!

I parked there for so long nothing happened, Where the heck did it come from a stupid chinese girl driver?``

To certain people, money can't cure or replace the weight of a value that something belongs to someone.

Wish I could. I'm with ensteele in thinking the ditch should have stopped her (and the incompetence part). Have you been able to get any info from her on what happened? I could only think of three possibilities; panicking and hitting the accelerator instead of brakes, brakes failing, or getting her foot jammed in the pedals. More than one impact point just seems weird.

Hope dealings with the insurers are going ok. I read the stories of you guys dealing with insurers and count myself lucky we have an option for 'agreed value' insurance here.

Tania.
