PCV install tool

In case anyone is interested ...

Getting a PVC valve installed is a PITA ... no room to get my hands in there to screw the damned thing into the underside of the manifold.

I cooked up this tool from a bit of coat-hanger ... it holds the PCV securely enough to prevent it from getting lost ... but it's a bit loose so you can turn the thing with one finger ... enough to get it started.

or, you just use the crow's foot again to hold it...

And a torch and a large hammer will get you this...

I made up my own tool. I used a custom bent 3/4 inch box end wrench. It worked better than a 19m crows foot because it has better leverage. I held up the PCV valve with my finger from underneath (OUCH!)

Nice! We should probably remind everyone who hasn't done this before that they will have to turn the wrench/crow's foot clockwise to loosen and counterclockwise to tighten since the PCV is "upside down"...

Good one Bill.

I have taken interest in these posts as one day I may get involved with the problem, but in my minds eye, I had not really got the true picture.

Thanks and merry Christmas, Trevor. ;)

Hi dannmarr
How did you custom bend your PCV tool? Did you use a shop press? I got a 12 ton shop press and I dont know if its got enough power to bend a wrench?
Thanks

I used a bench vice, a torch and a sledge hammer. The steel needs to be heated to bend.

Thats what I thought. Do you think you can sell me one? PM me
Thanks
