Adjusting Idle RPM?
Does anyone know how to adjust idling RPM? Mine seems bit low and I'd like to increase up to 600 or 700rpm. Is it easy or gotta get some new parts??
Thanks. |

When you say it's low, I must presume less than 600 rpm. If it is not causing the car to cut out, why would you want to up it? Or is the car cutting out? Joe:confused: |

One more thing.. when A/C is on, RPM is slightly higher, so no problem...but I'd prefer fresh summer breathe from window you know... |
The RPM is supposed to be higher to account for the A/C being on. That's normal. On the EJ22 (the engine in the Legacy), there's an idle adjustment screw located right where the throttle body meets the intake. I'm pretty sure there is one in the SVX located in a similar place. tightening the screw should raise the RPM slightly. You might also want to consider cleaning the Idle Air Control Valve.

it would be new to me. As far as I know (and what is stated on the underhood label) the EG33 idle is not adjustable. It does go up with the AC on, but AFAIK you can't adjust it. You could adjust your throttle cable linkage to raise it up.
I'll check the service manual to see if I can find something that says otherwise. LAN could most likely tell us if it is something in the ECU or in the IAC that sets where it will be. |

Check for any vacuum leaks or disconnected hoses. Last time I had my intake snorkus off/on I forgot one hose causing the car to idle very low.
Also make sure it's not pinched in the throttle body. Another thing to check is that all the intake plenum bolts are tight. |

which one? mileage now?
clean your throttle body, do a seafoam cleaning and put a bottle of fuel injector cleaning into the gas tank. that's what I would try if I were you. |

It's my '92. my '96 doesn't have any problems like that. Funny they both have almost identical mileage now. Around 112K mi. |
Is 400 rpm low or what... Engine is warmed up. When AC is on, it's like 600 or 700 RPM.
|
400rpm is what I get on my EJ22 when it's warm. It's more like 1000 though when the AC is on.
