hard shifting

the transmission off an on has been hard shifting and for a moment it wouldnt go into reverse so i put a bit of gas and it jerked violently.
Will adjusting the brake band do anything or is it another issue?

Re: hard shifting

You should check the resistor and connections mounted behind the battery and run a diagnostic check on the transmission. First read up on the subject in the how too section, so that you know what you are about.

all i found was a picture of where it is i didnt find any how-to's to diagnose it.
do i just use a voltmeter to diagnose it?

I must check the “how to” because data should be there.

You will have to test the resistor for correct resistance using an ohmmeter. (Ohms scale on a multi meter.) It should measure between 9 and 15 ohms. Make sure you check the associated wiring and connections. ;)
