Clear Corners

Seeing as the Jay-Dee-Em bits are costing well over $300 these days, has anyone ever just taken a heat gun/boiled their corner lights to remove the amber portion to achieve the clear look? Or any other helpful tips

Sanding

I have seen people do it. You might want to search for sanding. people have sanded with really fine grit wet sands and it appears they have made it work very well. good luck with that, it seems too hard for me though.

On one of the SVXs that I bought, the prior owner had put silver duct tape over the orange part which made it almost dissapear. From a little ways back, it almost looked like the clear corner lights. I could post a picture if you would like. :)

not to be rude, as im not intending to be, duct tape has no place on a car as glorius as an svx

yea, I wasn't looking for a duct tape fix. On the celica forums its common practice to boil the corner assembly for a few minutes, which loosens the amber from the rest of the corner light. I was just wondering if there was a way to remove the orange insert (if it really is an insert) a voila! clear corner lamps

Before I drop money onto buying a testbed on ebay I was trying to figure out if this is feasable... keep em' coming :)

WOOT duct tape!!!

As for the corners, I'm not sure about those, but I know the rear light have been modded to remove the diffusers...*Searches*.....here:

Quite an entertaining thread too.

Not sure if the technique would also work for the corners, but hey, it's an idea.

I put silver vinyl on my corners... 3 years later they still hold up pretty well.

The front corners are one piece, for me vinyl wouldn't cut the mustard. If you don't want to part with the coin, get smallcarperformace clear corners. Not as nice as JDM but if done properly, acceptable.

I already took apart my right corner and took the amber out, i have some pictures but I'll post them later. I'm doing the left corner right now:)
