so after about 6 weeks the lettrer from the d.c. mva arrived saying how the "lost or stolen" car was sitting in the impound lot and i could come to our nation's capital to pay an insane amount of ransom to get it out of hock. it is too long and depressing a story to relate my dealing with the d.c. police, mva and the lot to tell here, let's just say the final straw was when the car had a dead battery and the lot fella said "well, in these situations you have to get a tow truck". luckily i had a set of cables and talked him into letting me jump it from his truck.

so, the svx is back from the son who used it during the time he had somehow lost the OTHER loaner car from me that took him to the concert in d.c. i only got to drive it to the shop though, as it has been in need of a rear wheel bearing (what a shock), and a/c leak fix and new rotors (heck, i was almost used to the shimmy every time i braked from above 40). hopefully ity'll be bacl soon.

and so it goes.

Bill, you mean to say the car wasn't parted out by a ghetto entrepreneur whilst in the confines of the Nation's Capital? It's a miracle, and congrats on the recovery, as agonizing as it must have been.

Funny how those lots wait 4-6 weeks to noitify you and are allowed to charge $30-50 a day...
